Education and Honors

• Attended Central Michigan University, where he met Michele, his wife of 30 years. Graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
• Attended the University of Michigan school of Dentistry from 1976-1980 and received a Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
• During his schooling he was a Research Associate at the University of Michigan’s School of Medicine and Department of Anatomy where he studied cleft lip and cleft palate origins and treatments.
• Earned an award in 1978 for his cleft lip and palate research from the American Association of Orthodontists at their annual conference in Anaheim, California
• Received orthodontic certification from Straight Wire Seminars through a three-year course under mentoring of Dr. Waldemar Brehm and Dr. Leonard Carapezza.
• Received Advanced Conscious Sedation Training

Practice History

• Graduated from University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1980 and practiced in Jackson Michigan until he purchased Hilbert Family Practices from Dr. John Wagner in 1981.
• Hilbert Family Practices places emphasis on orthodontics and aesthetic dentistry specifically crowns and bridges and extreme makeover cases.  Most of continuing education has been in this field.
• Since purchasing Hilbert Family Practices in 1981, the office has expanded from three treatment rooms to seven with several remodeling jobs and the conversion of Hilbert Professional building into our office only.
• Volunteers at the Tri-County Dental Clinic, an organization that provides dental services to the needy in Outagamie, Calumet and Winnebago Counties.
• In 2009, Dr. Maureen Asp Porter joined the practice and brings her expertise in implant surgery, IV sedation and complex oral surgery.

Personal

• Dr. Asp and his wife Michele have three daughters, a golden retriever named Riley and a cat named Kaiya.
• Oldest daughter Maureen was married in August 2009 and resides with her husband in Bend, Oregon where they both practice dentistry.  Maureen also practices at Hilbert Family Practices a few months out of the year.
• Middle daughter Julia lives and works as a Marketing Consultant in Denver, CO; she is also the Operations Manager for Hilbert Family Practices.
• Youngest daughter Lauren graduated in May 2010 for St. Norbert College and is currently taking courses in pre-dental studies at Marquette University while working at Hilbert Family Practices.
• When Dr. Asp is not in the office he enjoys golfing, boating, traveling and spending time with his family in Door County, WI.
